Request InfoA laundry dosing system uses small peristaltic pumps to inject precise volumes of liquid detergent, softener and other laundry chemicals directly into the washing machine at the correct stage of each cycle. The pumps are programmed with dosing quantities per wash programme, ensuring consistent results regardless of which crew member operates the machine.
While not strictly mandatory, dosing systems are strongly recommended on yachts with more than two washing machines or with high linen turnovers. They eliminate human error in chemical measurement, protect linen from detergent damage, reduce consumption (and therefore storage requirements), and prevent machine damage from incorrect product selection.
Professional superyacht laundry typically uses: a heavy-duty alkaline main wash detergent, a neutral or enzymatic detergent for delicates and coloured items, a fabric softener or conditioner for linen, a descaler or maintenance product for machine care, and sometimes a sanitising agent for towels and guest items. All products must be suitable for automatic dosing systems and stored in compliance with SOLAS chemical storage regulations.
